The
Bell County complex is located in Bell County
in eastern Kentucky, and consists of two Company-operated
underground mines and one contract surface mine. We
use room and pillar mining to mine the Buckeye Springs
seam of coal and our contract mine operator uses the
contour and auger method to mine multiples seams, including
the Red Springs, Hignite and other Stray seams. Coal
is processed at our preparation plant and loaded into
railcars via an integrated four-hour unit train loadout
that is serviced by both the CSX and Norfolk Southern
railroads.
